Design, lifestyle and quality at the heart of new product range
TCL Corporation, one of China’s largest consumer electronics groups and the world’s third-largest television manufacturer, introduced its new range of TVs at an IFA press conference on Thursday.
TCL Chairman and CEO, Tomson Li, reinforced the company’s stated goal of empowering consumers “to create their own inspiring moments in life and enjoy watching TV with their family and friends”. He added: “We continue to embrace new technologies in order to offer them a new, superior entertainment experience.”
“We believe television brings people together,” TCL senior product designer Tiago Abreu added, before introducing three new product lines:
1. The XESS Line and its “Private Theatre” XESS X6 offers a “premium product experience” and is designed for consumers with “re ned taste”, Abreu said. It employs Quantum Dot display technology and is TCL’s third generation of QLED TVs. It represents 1.07 billion colours, and at 60,000 hours, its colour lifespan is twice that of a regular OLED TV.
The X2 XESS looks good from every angle, as it employs 360° design – screw and cable holes hidden at the back by a smart cloth cover – and has virtually no
frame. HDR Pro technology produces high-quality pictures, and delivers 103% DCI-P3 colour volume with precise light and dark shade reproduction. The JBL 3-way, front-firing speaker system provides high-quality sound.
2. The CityLine is a smaller TV with minimalist design, an ultra-thin frame and borderless picture, targeting “consumers with a young lifestyle” Abreu said.
3. TCL’s new popular line targets a young and fashionable public, featuring attractive price part, a stylish and “mysterious” design and an ultra-thin bezel.
Finally, Abreu demonstrated an AI- enabled television, which allows user interaction with casual speech, image and movement recognition; customised information, including user preference, user tag and dedicated content; and interconnectivity with other devices. TCL’s AI technology is supported by leading Chinese web search engine Baidu.
