Two major awards won at Eurobike and IFA 2017 – worldwide interest in new product line

Brian Zheng, CEO of Shenzhenbased manufacturer Livall IoT Technology, said he was delighted to have won the Smart Sports Device Innovation Award at IFA, which came just a few days after scooping another award at the Eurobike 2017 show.

Livall IoT Technology was started in April 2014, when Zheng, with a keen interest in cycling, saw an opportunity to develop innovative safety helmets. First products were launched in mid-2015 and Zheng estimates that 100,000 units of what is billed as “the world’s first smart and safe safest cycling helmet” have been sold globally.

“We have ambitious growth plans and want to sell 500,000 units in 2018. Sales have come from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the United States, however, we are really looking to drive business in Europe,” said Zheng.

The award-winning product, the Helmetphone (BH51M), features smart lighting (including indicators), hands-free calling, the ability to listen to music and an SOS alert function. The Helmetphone is paired to a smartphone, via Bluetooth, and controlled via a button that needs to be attached to the handlebars.

“The jury of the Eurobike awards said that they liked the look of the stylish helmet with rear lights for added visibility,” says Zheng. “The jury added that the Bluetooth connectivity is excellent and that the sound is barely audible to bystanders, allowing riders to remain fully aware of noises from their surroundings.”

“We are using the motto ‘Redefine Your Safety. The SOS feature, for when a user falls off their bike, automatically sends a text message to a contact – which is predetermined in the settings menu – informing them that there has been an incident”.
