Alberico Lissoni, Sharp Home Appliances’ head of sales and marketing in Europe, greeted the IFA press gallery with a surprise. “We now have a 60,000 sqm tumble dryer factory in Turkey,” he noted before later revealing a new tumble dryer range, a first for Sharp Home Appliances.
“Break the routine” was key message and across Lissoni’s presentation, with the theme informing the new product range innovations being launched exclusively at IFA.
“Most domestic appliances are designed to support the old housework routines” said Lissoni. “But we want to be different and original, to reduce the traditional steps. People are busy, they don’t have time to waste.”
To this end, he revealed several products, each of which disrupts the kitchen status quo in a different way. The new 1-Touch Pro series of smart washing machines and dishwashers
contain sensor technology which can assess the size and nature of the load and automatically calculate the duration, temperature, and amount of water and detergent required.
“It’s easy” said Lissoni, “Just load it, one touch on the smartphone-style panel and the machine automatically starts the appropriate cycle. No more time wasted choosing the right programme, and no more shrinking clothes or dishes left still dirty.”
The Intellidos washing machine, meanwhile, can calibrate when its detergent is running low and automatically order a replacement using Amazon Dash Replenishment.
The new VacPac Pro fridge freezer has an ingenious accessory that can vacuum- seal fresh or leftover food in air-tight bags, reducing waste and saving storage space.
Meanwhile, the AirStream Oven boasts five shelves and Air Curtain technology that uses an air stream to block the heat from escaping when the door is opened, as well as stopping flavours and smells from cross-contaminating.
“You can cook three different meals at once, or five pizzas – or 100 cupcakes!” Lesson said.
