PCM: THE FUTURE OF HOT WATER SYSTEMS

ADVERTORIAL

COLMO innovates with a hi-tech system set to revolutionise the concept of water heating

Inspired by the aerospace technology, COLMO has developed the COLMO FUTURE series of phase change energy storage hot water tanks.

After years of research, a system has been developed which creatively employs Phase Change Material (PCM) at the basis of a heating method for traditional electric water systems.
Employing the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) in Silicon Valley as a cutting-edge technology research base and the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in Shenzhen for technology extension and implementation, COLMO has been reinforcing research, based on essential consumer demand. The goal has been to integrate AI core technology into premium home appliances, applying harmonised interaction such as image recognition and voice interaction and deep learning into a “COLMO expert system”.

AFTER YEARS OF RESEARCH, A SYSTEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH CREATIVELY EMPLOYS PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL (PCM) AT THE BASIS OF A HEATING METHOD FOR TRADITIONAL ELECTRIC WATER SYSTEMS

PCM is a new material which changes state from solid to liquid when it absorbs heat, and changes from liquid to solid when it releases heat. It is this characteristic of PCM that enables over-current heating of bath water. An electric water heater, can therefore abandon the design based on an inner liner and magnesium rod, resulting in clean high-quality fresh water, even after months or years of usage. With classic systems, the quality of water deteriorates over time.
Thanks to this new technology, the COLMO phase change energy storage hot water tank sports a slimmer body: just 22.8 cm deep… only 48% of a traditional electric water heater. It thus sets bathroom space aside to meet a variety of installation environments, giving a new aesthetic inspiration for one’s home space.
Furthermore, a mixing valve is no longer required in this technology, due to electronic constant temperature technology, which monitors water temperature in real- time in a three-dimensional manner, automatically adjusting the ratio of cold water to hot water, with a precise-controlled temperature difference as low as ±1°C, which is virtually impossible for human skin to perceive.
A comfortable water temperature is planned throughout the day by tuning the outlet water temperature intelligently according to the inlet water temperature of different periods of the day.
The system provides the user with personalised exclusive temperature. By simply clicking on the “favourite” button, an exclusive water temperature can be selected. Three temperature IDs can be set to meet the different needs of different family members.

COLMO A/C ACHIEVES COOL “WIND-FREE” FEEL

With an increasing number of potential A/C buyers backing off due to “over breeziness”, which can cause a number of ills, COLMO is presenting a new kind of air conditioner at IFA that solves this issue. Equipped with a wind-free system, the unit softens the strong air ow to achieve a cool wind-free feel. And thanks to a micro-positive pressure fresh air system, outdoor fresh air is brought gently into the home through an efficient HEPA net ensuring constant air circulation. It mixes with cool indoor air to form a soft breeze, offering a fresh and comfortable air-conditioned climate throughout the home.
