The Yale home app: elevating the smart home experience

Yale, a renowned actor in the field of home security, is introducing its new Yale Home app.

This intuitive application aims to provide customers with a unified platform to control both existing smart products and upcoming releases. With the Yale Home app, users can enjoy a more connected Yale ecosystem of smart devices, elevating their home security experience to new heights while retaining the same intuitive functionalities and services they currently enjoy.

As part of its commitment to delivering the highest standards of technology and service, Yale encourages customers to transfer their Yale Access accounts to the Yale Home app before July 1st, 2023. This transition ensures uninterrupted access to the intuitive smart features offered by Yale devices. Fortunately, the process of moving an account to the Yale Home app is simple and straightforward.

To migrate their account, the user can follow these steps:

  1. Downloading the Yale Home app from their app store.
  2. Opening the app and logging in using the same username and password they used for the Yale Access app.
  3. There is no need to create a new account or set up devices again. Once logged in, the user is ready to go

It is crucial for users to ensure that any other individuals with access to their Yale device, such as family members or trusted visitors, also download the Yale Home app. Failure to do so will result in those users being locked out of their Yale Access accounts until they switch to the new app.

If the user has purchased both an August lock and a Yale device, such as Linus®, Doorman Smart Locks, or smart storage, they should note that the process differs slightly. While the August lock will remain functional on the Yale Access app, all other registered devices must be transferred to the Yale Home app. Failing to complete this transfer before the July 1st deadline will result in being locked out of the Yale Access app until the Yale Home app is downloaded.

When moving the account to the Yale Home app, it’s important to be aware that third-party integrations will not transfer automatically. Users who have integrated their Yale products with trusted partners like Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Philips Hue will need to reestablish the connection between their Yale devices and the respective third-party provider.

For additional information and answers to frequently asked questions, Yale has provided a dedicated section in the app’s FAQs to guide users through the account migration process.
