Samsung launches new Odyssey OLED G9 Monitor

The company’s latest DQHD OLED monitor features AI upscaling and fast response time, allowing to immerse gamers in the action.

Samsung Electronics has announced the global launch of the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor (G95SC), introducing cutting-edge AI upscaling technology. The company says this latest addition to its lineup builds upon the success of last year’s Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB) and ushers in a new era of OLED gaming.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at the company, said: “Last year, Samsung met the demands and expectations of seasoned gamers with the release of the Odyssey OLED G8. With the introduction of the Odyssey OLED G9, boasting unparalleled picture quality, we are thrilled to provide our customers with these powerful gaming monitors and set new standards for OLED gaming.”

The Odyssey OLED G9 is 49 inches in size with a 1800R curvature, making it the first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio. Its expansive and wide screen ratio allows users to dive into super-ultrawide vistas, equivalent to having two QHD screens side by side. Additionally, the monitor’s swift 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time and 240Hz refresh rate give players a competitive edge.

Setting the Odyssey OLED G9 apart is the inclusion of the Neo Quantum Processor Pro. Powered by a deep learning algorithm, this processor is said to intelligently analyse images and automatically upscale them to adjust brightness and enhance contrast. According to the manufacturer, this enables the monitor to restore every detail, delivering vibrant images, pixel by pixel.

The monitor’s smooth gameplay experience is further enhanced by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. With DisplayHDR True Black 400, the Odyssey OLED G9 offers incredible details and vivid colours, regardless of the game or content being displayed.

Featuring a sleek metal frame and slim design, the Odyssey OLED G9 is said to be elegant in its appearance too. On the back of the monitor, the CoreSync and Core Lighting+ use advanced lighting technology to synchronise colours with on-screen content with the aim of bringing the gaming experience to life. Integrated stereo speakers are also said to provide crisp sound to complement the visuals.

Equipped with Samsung Gaming Hub2 and smart TV apps, the Odyssey OLED G9 provides access to streaming, gaming services, and entertainment, all in one place. Users can enjoy their favourite shows from top OTT service providers without the need for a connection to a PC or mobile device3. Samsung Gaming Hub also allows users to discover and play games from partners such as Xbox Game Pass and NVIDIA GeForce Now, without the hassle of downloads or storage space requirements.

The Multi View feature takes full advantage of the large display, enabling gameplay on two screens simultaneously. Gamers can now multitask effortlessly, without the need for multiple monitors.

The Odyssey OLED G9 offers a range of convenient functions and features for an optimised experience, whether gaming or viewing. Versatile connectivity options, including HDMI 2.1, Micro HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, and Auto Source Switch+, ensure seamless connections through a central USB hub, regardless of the content source. The Height Adjustable Stand (HAS) allows users to find their ideal gaming or viewing position, no matter the activity.

To cater to users’ diverse needs, the Odyssey OLED G9 series includes the G93SC model. This delivers the same powerful OLED performance but without the Gaming Hub or smart TV offerings.

To celebrate the launch of the new model, the Odyssey Cup will be held on the Samsung Odyssey Twitch channel on June 22, gathering 100 gamers from around the world for a Fortnite tournament.
